Richard Lancione

I graduated from Bellaire High School in 1959. I attended Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio for one year. I then transferred to The Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Economics in 1963. I attended The Ohio State University College of Law and graduated in 1966. I was admitted to the practice of law in the fall of 1966.

I practiced law in Columbus, Ohio until March of 1968. I then came back to Belmont County and joined my father, A.G. Lancione, and my brother, Bernard G. Lancione, in a law partnership known as Lancione, Lancione & Lancione, in Bellaire, Ohio.

While I was at The Ohio State University, I worked for the Department of Transportation of the summer of 1961. I worked as a page in the Ohio House of Representatives from the fall of 1961 through 1963. I worked for the Ohio Legislative Service Commission for two years, 1965 to 1966.

I have been in the private practice of law, with our offices in Bellaire, since 1968. I have been involved in many diverse areas of the law over the years. I have handled many trials and have settled cases worth millions of dollars. At the present time, I handle personal injury, employment law, class actions, trials, wrongful death, and will contests. I also do work for clients of mine who own small businesses.

I am a member of the Belmont County, Ohio Bar Association. I am a member of the Ohio Association for Justice, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and American Judicature Society.

I can practice in all Ohio courts, The Federal District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the Federal Court of Claims and the U.S. Supreme Court. Our office also handles cases in West Virginia.

I have been active in the community as well as the legal field. I have been the president of the Bellaire Chamber of Commerce, the president of the Bellaire Kiwanis Club, the chairman of the Belmont County Salvation Army Advisory Board, vice-chairman of the Ohio University Regional Coordinating Council, chairman of the Board of the National Imperials Glass Collector’s Society, a board member of the Bellaire Glass Museum and the chairman of the Bellaire Glass Festival. I have been involved in numerous other community activities.

I have been invited to be a member of a selected group of attorneys who champion the right of trial by jury. I have been a member of that group, the American Board of Trial Advocates, since 1998.

I have been married to the former Joyce Gianangeli since 1963. We have two children, Brant and Tracey, and five grandchildren. Tracey has been associated with the practice of law in this office since 1990.
